"we need teams of 4!" and lots of "are you the new one?"

Yes, I'm the new one!! Hello, I'm Sister Shuldberg :)

oh, the soundtrack of a new area.  Gotta love it. Today is day 6 in Selah and boy has it been strange. When I was in Terrace Heights, we would spend our Pdays here, so I'm having all sorts of flashbacks. But it has been good.

We ended our time in Goldendale saying goodbye to a few more people we love and having one more lesson with Steve. He truly is a wonderful man. He's been reading and praying and we read more with him on Tuesday and talked about baptism and he set a goal to quit smoking by Thanksgiving. He's so sweet and sincere in his desire to follow Jesus Christ and knows that the help he receives from the Lord will be crucial in making any changes. and though we had to say goodbye, he told us that he is sure "our spirits will cross paths again" how sweet.

Transfers were CRAZY. and adjusting to a new area has been weird and very fun. It's cool and strange to have another opportunity to tell people all about you and almost reinvent yourself. thankfully, I haven't felt an intense need to change everything, but this gives me another chance to improve even more. Weirdest thing, we went to Walmart(oh how I missed it) on Wednesday to get me some groceries until we could come today and I saw Taleesa Crawford AND Bishop Johnson from the Terrace Heights ward! It was a blast from the past lol.

So, my new companion is Sister McKnight. She's 24, from Wichita, Kansas, and number 6 out of 8 kids. She wants to be a mental health counselor, and now I feel like I'm writing her dating profile.. lol she's been out almost 4 months and just barely finished her training, but has a super strong testimony and a very unique perspective that is likely going to teach me a lot more than it teaches her. She's also 5'11".. some would argue 6'.. and can reach everything on the top shelf so easily, I love it. no counter climbing for me :)

We're working with some really wonderful people here. and I'm super grateful for them and for the ward. Sister McKnight and I are making a greater effort to help the members to share the gospel with their friends and the other day, at dinner one woman was telling us about the girls she works with and the nervous excitement she had when she decided to follow up with one about something she'd given her was so familiar. I love seeing the light that the Gospel brings to peoples faces. and hopefully, that light will keep growing brighter, its the best light there is :)

I love you all!!

p.s. the first quote was when some guy invited Sister McKnight and I to join their Halloween party cause they needed teams of 4 for beer pong and flip cup.. so we gave him a pamphlet :)

"we don't want to break into our car..."

Hi Friends!  So, I'll start with the funny story. on Thursday we had to go back the apartment to grab a Book of Mormon Lelani had given us to write our testimonies in and as we were leaving, I locked the handle, like we always do and closed the door. Sister Jensen looked at me and asked if I had a key  to the apartment, which I had the spare in my bag. Turns out she meant the car key, which was attached to the apartment key, which had been left inside. and my copy of the apartment key, along with our phone, etc were all locked in the car. We tried to card the door, but unluckily, our apartment isn't very easy to break into haha. So we prayed(which is where the quote comes from, Sister Jensen couldn't keep it together after that) WE called the sisters we live with on our neighbors phone after calling the mission office to get the number, left a voicemail, and walked to our appointment. I'd left my coat in the car too, so it got cold pretty quick, but after seeing Jean...

"I will go, I will do, the things THE LORD COMMANDS!!"

Hi Friends!    So Mission time is so totally warped. The days feel super long and the weeks seem to go by quick-ish, but come Pday I feel like I have no memory of anything that happened that week. And every day ends in a similar way so I have no way of knowing what day it is. Basically my perception of time passing no longer works. It's cool.     We had a Trunk-or-Treat on Wednesday and there was this family all dressed up as Harry Potter characters (Carson, you woulda LOVED it) I took a picture but it's kinda blurry. the mom was Professor Trelawny(sp?), the dad was Professor Snape, and then they had Hermione, Harry, Ron, and their little girl was Dobby.     Margaret is doing super well. We still don't know if she's moving out or no, so that's concerning, especially as we get closer o her baptismal date, but she's super diligent and is being a member missionary before she is even a member. She reads the Book of Mormon to her mom and is t...

"the road's that way"

Hi Friends! It has been one heck of a week. Goodbyes, packing, transfers, new area(and companion and roommates and routine),service, walking, and missionary work interspersed with all of that, we'll see what I can put into coherent thought. My new companion is Sister Jensen. She's been out just over 6 months (and I hit 5 tomorrow!) and has been in Ephrata fro 6 weeks or so. We're both still pretty new, but we've got a good feeling about this transfer and we're gonna learn a lot and work hard. I'm excited. We live with another set of Sisters which has been a little more of an adjustment, to go from spending 4 1/2 months living with one person to living with 3 who already have a groove that now I have to fit into. But they are all wonderful people and we've had some fun in these last 4 1/2 days. I'm going to learn a lot here and its exciting to see how Heavenly Fathers hand was involved in all of this. I know I'm supposed to be here in Ephrata and ...
