"Bearing your testimony is like jumping off a cliff"

Helloooo ... not sure what to call y'all

Anywho. super great stuff this week (the subject is what a 12 year old said on the stand yesterday at church lol.. truth)

Monday, we met Devyn, a super cool 17 y/o from Ellensburg who is staying here for the summer. He has a lot of LDS friends in Ellensburg and was fairly familiar with the Book of Mormon before we met him. We talked with him and invited him to be baptized that day. It was amazing to feel the Spirit there to testify to him of the truth of what we were saying. We met with him again on Wednesday and shared with him the Message of the Restoration and essentially asked him what he thought of the whole Joseph Smith thing. He had read part of Joseph Smiths testimony before we went over and he didn't see why anyone would make these things up. I saw even that as miracle, because there are so many people who have biased opinions before they even hear our message and choose to turn it down preemptively. He has been so prepared to receive these things. He actually told us about how a couple weeks before we met him, he had prayed that God would help him find his faith, and then we showed up. when we asked him if he'd be willing to read and pray to ask God if these things were true and if they could bless him, He said to us "well, I already signed up to be baptized". a miracle that we were able to see in hindsight, was that we had tracted the street where we met Devyn a couple weeks ago and hadn't met anyone who had any sliver of interest. the entire time we had tracted, we were hoping that one of the people we met would turn out to be an obvious reason for us to tract there, but nothing. the house we met Devyn at, was a house where a woman lived who had said we could come back. She hadn't seemed interested at all, but we figured an invitation to come back could lead to something, so why not try it? and then... miracle!

We taught the 15-step stop smoking program to Walls on Thursday. It was so cool to watch the determination on his face as he crushed the three packs of cigars that he had. And he very adamantly told us that once he is past this, he's never going back. p.s. he gave us his ashtrays!

And to finish off, a couple funny quotes for you:

Sister Wilcox is a twin and we were talking about how she is way shorter than her twin brother, and in answer to why she goes "i was squished in the womb!"

We were visiting with Jutta, and her dad was there, waiting impatiently for her grandma..

Grandma: I'm coming, I'm coming
Dad: so is christmas
G: *angry faces and hand gestures* MEN!!

We told Walls that we'd give up Peanut Butter while he quits smoking(yes, we love it that much) to which he says "alright, step away from the Peanut Butter.."

I've been studying the talk "A Reservoir of Living Water" and I highly recommend it. Its been amazing to learn not only why it so necessary to study Gods word, but how the revelation that comes can feed you spiritually and you need it to survive this world. Its the bomb, look it up and drink some water, feed your souls.

Love you all!!
Sister Shuldberg

p.s. I got to see all 5 of my companions on Saturday! 'twas nuts, and so rare
p.p.s. this little boy is named Trayce but they call him Tuck or Tucker since he can tuck his ears!
p.p.p.s. we played the ukuleles in Primary! what!?!?

"This is Sister Shuldberg and Sister Jensen.. er no Sister Wilcox"

Oh, the adjustments that come with a new companion. and you'd think with how many times I've introduced Sister Wilcox to people, I would've known to answer the phone with her name.. guess not oh well, Hi Friends! (I can't not start my email with that, I'm on a 7 1/2 month roll) It seriously feels like its been 3 weeks since I emailed last.. and each day has felt like at least 3 days.. does that add up right?   Ephrata is lighting up y'all. funny thing about being a missionary, I get crazy excited about fairly minor things. For example, one of those miracles that I got to witness was as we talked to a man named Garrett. He did not seem interested, he actually looked almost amused, but as we continued talking with him and testified of the Book of Mormon, his expression softened. He accepted a copy and said we could come back. I'd never noticed peoples countenance change so clearly, it was cool to witness.  more miraculous, Debbie brought her boyfriend S...

He is a God of Miracles

Hi Friends! So.... Sister Zollinger is being transferred to Wenatchee, like forever away. going to miss her so much, but Terrace Heights is seriously on fire.  We saw so many miracles this week! The other day, Sister Zollinger remembered how President Lewis once said to ask Less Actives if we could practice lessons on them because lots of times they don't feel like they need lessons but its a way to help them feel the Spirit, so we figured we'd give it a shot. IT TOTALLY WORKED. We taught the Plan of Salvation to a less active elderly couple who hadn't been to church in a few years and halfway through the lesson, Sister Weldon was crying so hard that she couldn't read the scripture we gave her. It was so powerful to see the change in their countenance as we talked and afterward (and since) Brother Weldon has thanked us profusely for coming over. Its a really good feeling to be able to see people open their hearts to the Spirit. We also "practiced" th...

Who's ready to #LighttheWorld!?!?!

What's crackalackin? I'll tell you what,... I got my trunky call this week :( Basically that is when the office missionaries call you because you have 3 months left on your mission and they have to get info for flight plans.. :( I cried; I didn't expect it to come this fast or to be this sad.  On a happy note, Brad and Amanda are my fave people. We had an amazing lesson with them on Tuesday. We taught Brad about the gospel being restored through Joseph Smith and Amanda pretty much taught like 1/2 of it. She explained to him what the priesthood is and described the First Vision so well. We were so proud :) It has been amazing to see their growth in just the last few weeks and to hear them talk about the changes God has wrought in their lives and how excited they are for more changes. Brad got kind of emotional during our lesson as we talked about why he feels being baptized will be a blessing for him and his family. He talked about Sister McKnight and I and the impact w...
