"I'm expecting to see a camel and some lambs and.." -Kim

Hi Friends!

Our investigator, Bryan, really opened up to us this week. He told us a whole lot about his mom who passed away and how that affected him. We talked about why we come over and why they keep letting us come and how he feels when we're there. we're hoping he'll recognize that most of it is the Spirit and not just that we're all friends. That's the direction we'll go next time. It's been really great to see the Spirit working on him. He's so much happier now than when we first met him and he smiles all the time and is more trusting and open. I want it to last though and I'm hoping he'll realize why he's been happier and have a greater desire to seek after it.

We went to Journey to Bethlehem(a live nativity put on by a bunch of church's in the area) this weekend too and it was amazing! Bryan and Matt(investigators) came as well as Angela who is a less active. Our investigator Kim came and brought his girlfriend Marie. And some members came and brought Ana. We had a good sized group haha, and everyone loved it. It really reminds you of the Christmas Spirit and the best way to celebrate this season. Makes you wanna light the world more actually. We met a camel named Izzy and a donkey named Gracie and a mule and goats. Kim was totally obsessed with the camel and kept going back over to it like a little kid(he's 63). We all loved it.

It's getting really cold, which actually makes me more motivated to knock cause we get a burst of warm air when the door opens. We actually walked up to this guy out on his driveway and I felt so much warmer and the wind went away while we spoke to him, blessings :).

OKAY who watched the Christmas devotional? Go do it. It was awesome. lds.org people.

So Bryan is literally a teddy bear and so thoughtful. they got us a mini Christmas tree so we can have a live one and we named it Sasha :) She's cute and they gave us presents! Bryan called us before we saw him and tried to convince us that he got us a puppy and we were trying so hard to figure out a way that we could keep it without breaking any rules lol. But it wasn't a puppy, it was Sasha, the Norfolk Pine :)

We had Doctrine of Christ on Tuesday(a training for the missionaries in their second transfer) and it was AWESOME. One thing that sister Lewis pointed out that I had never noticed before was that in the Book of Mormon when Heavenly Father speaks he's teaching the doctrine of Christ and how we need to have Faith in Christ and repent, how we need to be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost and how if we endure to the end we will have eternal life. It's that simple and we need to share it simply so that people understand what they need to do. It was all super good and I can't do Sister Lewis justice, but basically 2 Nephi 31 is the bomb, read it, live it, love it.(https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/31?lang=eng)

We've also been asked by President to read Matthew and Luke in the days leading up to Christmas and to come to know Christ better. It's been really cool to learn more about who he is and not only what he did, but why. As you light the world this December, think about how Christ has brightened your life and share that with everyone. It's powerful. :)

Much Love!

p.s. Sister McCourt and I got chased by a goose on exchanges. It was super scary and we were hiding behind this man's truck trying to figure out where to go so it wouldn't get us. Sister McCourt told me to throw a rock to distract it but I couldn't find a rock ANYWHERE. It kept lowering it's head a running towards us and ruffling its feathers a bunch, so we waited until it started coming down the driveway and we ran through a random persons yard to get to the road and totally booked it to the car. It was scary. Kinda traumatized actually.

p.p.s. I may or may not be the same person when I get home, Sister Zollinger's traits and phrases are rubbing off on me and I think I'm becoming her clone. stay tuned..

"the road's that way"

Hi Friends! It has been one heck of a week. Goodbyes, packing, transfers, new area(and companion and roommates and routine),service, walking, and missionary work interspersed with all of that, we'll see what I can put into coherent thought. My new companion is Sister Jensen. She's been out just over 6 months (and I hit 5 tomorrow!) and has been in Ephrata fro 6 weeks or so. We're both still pretty new, but we've got a good feeling about this transfer and we're gonna learn a lot and work hard. I'm excited. We live with another set of Sisters which has been a little more of an adjustment, to go from spending 4 1/2 months living with one person to living with 3 who already have a groove that now I have to fit into. But they are all wonderful people and we've had some fun in these last 4 1/2 days. I'm going to learn a lot here and its exciting to see how Heavenly Fathers hand was involved in all of this. I know I'm supposed to be here in Ephrata and ...

"we don't want to break into our car..."

Hi Friends!  So, I'll start with the funny story. on Thursday we had to go back the apartment to grab a Book of Mormon Lelani had given us to write our testimonies in and as we were leaving, I locked the handle, like we always do and closed the door. Sister Jensen looked at me and asked if I had a key  to the apartment, which I had the spare in my bag. Turns out she meant the car key, which was attached to the apartment key, which had been left inside. and my copy of the apartment key, along with our phone, etc were all locked in the car. We tried to card the door, but unluckily, our apartment isn't very easy to break into haha. So we prayed(which is where the quote comes from, Sister Jensen couldn't keep it together after that) WE called the sisters we live with on our neighbors phone after calling the mission office to get the number, left a voicemail, and walked to our appointment. I'd left my coat in the car too, so it got cold pretty quick, but after seeing Jean...

"Are you eating the Bible I gave you?!?" -Ally to baby sister Emma

Hello one and all!  Jersey came to church yesterday! :) She is a girl we met a couple weeks ago after reaching out to the missionaries who were here last year and they'd mentioned her parents. When we met her, she asked if we could come read the Bible with her because "I need church". Of course, we agreed. She came for choir practice beforehand and stayed the whole time. Her first Sunday, she was there for over 4 hours, and she loved every bit of it :) and they loved her :)  We also got to do some community-lighting this week! If you aren't friends with me on Facebook.. shame on you, but it's okay, I will share. Selah has a couple places around that have apples with the word Selah in them(probably because Washington apples, and because Treetop is located here) so we went in to City Hall Tuesday morning and asked the mayor if she would be okay with us adding something to the one just outside the building, she said yes :) She also asked me to tell the man walkin...
